What is the fundamental difference between the priesthood of the Old Covenant and the priesthood of the New Covenant?

In the Old Covenant, the priesthood is called to represent the common people to God, but in the New Covenant, the priesthood is called to represent God to the common people.

However, believers today who are supposed to be the priesthood of the New Covenant are acting as if we are the common people of the Old Covenant, always awaiting for the 'priesthood' or the pastors and leaders today to represent us to God and to act on our behalf.

This is not to be so according to God's will. Jesus is our perfect example of how we should be to the common people and to the world.

We are to be like Jesus in all ways; in love, in spirit, in mind, in strength, in meekness, in lowliness in heart, in power, in authority, in truth and in life.
We are to remain ever in the presence of the fullness of the Holy Spirit.
Whatever Jesus does, we do.
Whatever He will us to do, we also do.
We can do nothing of ourselves, but what we see Him do: for what things soever he does, these also we do likewise.
We are called to be the Jesuses to the world.

Come then, let us rise up and fulfill our calling. Let us be one as Jesus is and act like the One as we are intended to be.
