The Gospel to the Poor
A word of Wisdom
On the Gospel to the Poor
Luke 4:18-19 KJV
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor;
On the Gospel to the Poor
Luke 4:18-19 KJV
The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor;
he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted,
to preach deliverance to the captives,
and recovering of sight to the blind,
to set at liberty them that are bruised,
[19] To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
Luke 7:22-23 KJV
Then Jesus answering said unto them,
Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard;
how that the blind see,
the lame walk,
the lepers are cleansed,
the deaf hear,
the dead are raised,
to the poor the gospel is preached.
[23] And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.
Have you preached the gospel to the poor?
"Yes, you say."
No, you have not.
Read in both quotes above carefully again.
In both quotes, Jesus is declaring the most important thing that identifies Him as the One, the Messiah, the Saviour of this evil world;
to the religious leaders in the first instance and to John the Baptist in the second.
And,
"What is that?", you ask.
It is preaching the gospel to the poor!
What is preaching the gospel to the poor?
Our Lord Jesus has stated it so plainly but the modern church is seemimgly blind to it:
It is "the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised"!
How did Jesus preach the gospel?
He always preach the good news of the Kingdom accompanied by healing the people of ALL manner of sicknesses and diseases.
Matthew 4:23 KJV
And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.
Why?
Simply because, not only is there no sin in the Kingdom, there is absolutely no sicknesses nor diseases in the perfect Kingdom of God.
He is demonstrating to us the reality of the Kingdom of God in which only the King of kings and Lord of lords can grant the blessing.
He has even specifically task us with this great commission:
Mark 16:15-18,20 KJV
And he said unto them,
Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
[16] He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
[17] And these signs shall follow them that believe;
In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
[18] They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
[20] And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.
Alas! this is of such high priority and importance to Christ,
how did the church even miss it?
The church is certainly not in agreement with Him today and there are even some who dismisses it in unbelief, saying, "the days of healings and miracles are over"!
Woe to you, all you blind leaders of the blind!
1 Corinthians 2:9-10 KJV
But as it is written,
Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.
[10] But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
Woe to you who are offended in these things! For know that you are coming against God!
Luke 7:23, "And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me."
Matthew 13:16-17 KJV
But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.
[17] For verily I say unto you,
That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see those things which ye see, and have not seen them ;
and to hear those things which ye hear, and have not heard them.
Repent ye and return to the Word of God, lean not on your intelkectual teachings and reasonings of man nor enticing words of man's wisdom.
Proverbs 3:5-6 KJV
Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
[6] In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Now, if you have received the gift of the Holy Spirit, He will teach you personally.
Rest assured that the Holy Ghost will teach you how to preach the gospel to the poor if you would just be willing to hear Him and to obey Him; you need not that any man teach you.
John 14:26 KJV
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
1 John 2:27 KJV
But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
But if you hear not nor know not of Him, you have yet to receive Him and do seek and hunger for Jesus to baptize you with the Holy Spirit.
John 16:7-11 KJV
Nevertheless I tell you the truth;
It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you;
but if I depart, I will send him unto you.
[8] And when He is come, He will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
[9] Of sin, because they believe not on me;
[10] Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more;
[11] Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.
Acts 5:29 KJV
We ought to obey God rather than men.
2 Corinthians 5:7-8 KJV
(For we walk by faith, not by sight:)
[8] We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.
James 2:20 KJV
Faith without works is dead
Romans 16:20 KJV
And the God of peace shall bruise Satan under your feet shortly.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
Hebrews 4:9-11 KJV
There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.
[10] For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.
[11] Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
