A humble nation is a growing nation

2 Chronicles 7:14
A humble nation is a growing nation

2nd Chronicles 7:14-15 KJV
If my people, which are called by my name,
shall humble themselves,
and pray,
and seek my face,
and turn from their wicked ways;
then will I hear from heaven,
and will forgive their sin,
and will heal their land.
[15] Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place.

Devotion:

What does it means for a nation to humble themselves?

Strong's Definition for "humble"
says it is to bend the knee.

Let's see how the scripture itself the word.

1 Kings 21:27,29 KJV
[27] And it came to pass, when Ahab heard those words, that he rent his clothes, and put sackcloth upon his flesh, and fasted, and lay in sackcloth, and went softly.
...
[29] Seest thou how Ahab humbleth himself before me?

Psalm 35:13 KJV
But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth:
I humbled my soul with fasting; and my prayer returned into mine own bosom.

We can understand that to humble oneself is to lower ourselves with fasting and bend our knees to pray to God in repentance.

This is actually being laid out in our text 2 Chronicles 7:14 today:

If my people, which are called by my name,
shall humble themselves,
1) and pray,
2) and seek my face,
3) and turn from their wicked ways;

When a nation does these 3 things, which are:
1) to pray,
2) to seek God's face
and
3) to turn from their wicked ways,

then God will hear from heaven of their prayers,
and will forgive their sin,
and will heal their land.
And His eyes shall be open,
and His ears shall be attentive onto the prayer that is made in this place of fear and subservience to God.

Therefore, what is the promise of God for a nation having the fear of the LORD that is obedient to His words?

Deuteronomy 29:9 KJV
Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do.

Isaiah 1:19 KJV
If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:

Psalm 1:1-3 KJV
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
[2] But his delight is in the law of the LORD ; and in His law doth he meditate day and night.
[3] And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.

Yes, indeed, whatsoever the nation doeth shall prosper.
A humble nation is a growing nation.

Heavenly Father,
We come lying prostrate at Your feet in the Name of Jesus
We come before You meek and lowly in heart.

We will turn from our wicked ways and shall not cease to seek the glory of Your face daily.
We repent of our sins before You.
Lord, forgive us!
Heal the land that we dwell in!
We ask for Your blessing that whatsoever we doeth shall prosper!

Bless God!
Praise Your Holy Name!
Thank you our Lord Jesus!

In Jesus Name,
Amen.
