The Pilgrim's Journey

A word of Wisdom
On the Pilgrim's Journey

Matthew 7:13-14 KJV
[13] Enter ye in at the strait gate:
for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:
[14] Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

What is the strait gate to the narrow way?

A) It is to follow and obey in Jesus' Way, Truth and Life.
John 14:6 KJV
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

B) It is to obey, do and keep His commandments as He has instructed us.
Matthew 22:37-39 KJV
[37] Jesus said unto him,
Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
[38] This is the first and great commandment.

[39] And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

John 15:12 KJV
[12] This is my commandment,
That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

Strait Gate:

You will not be able to enter the strait gate to the narrow way without first coming to God in the following manner:

1) Follow Jesus
Matthew 16:24-25 KJV
Then said Jesus unto his disciples,
[24] If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
[25] For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

John 10:9 KJV
I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

2) Meek and lowly in heart
Matthew 11:28-30 KJV
[28] Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
[29] Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
[30] For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

3) Be as little children
Matthew 18:3 KJV
And said, Verily I say unto you,
Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.

4) Born Again of the Spirit
John 3:5-6 KJV
[5] Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee,
Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
[6] That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

The Narrow Way:

After entering the Kingdom of God through the strait gate,
You will remain in your journey in the narrow way to Life as long as you keep yourselves in the following ways.
Outside of these ways, you would have already strayed into the wide gate to the broad way to destruction.

1) Serve God only, not mammon
Matthew 6:24 KJV
No man can serve two masters:
for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.
Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

2) Seek first the Kingdom not the world
Matthew 6:33 KJV
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

3) Humble yourselves
Luke 14:11 KJV
For whosoever exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

4) Servant not leader
Matthew 20:25-28 KJV
[25] But Jesus called them unto him, and said,
Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them.
[26] But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister;
[27] And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant:
[28] Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

Let us reflect on each of our own pilgrim's journey whether we have even entered the strait gate and whether we have unknowingly already strayed from the narrow way.

This is a matter of grave importance which otherwise God would not have forewarned us that only "few there be that find it".

As we look into the world and Christendom, alas! indeed this is sadly the situation now.
