A reality check
A reality check.
Are you a doer or a hearer of the Word?
The natural first response to this question directly out of your mind would often be,
"I am a doer".
Now, let us think again by answering these questions:
List down specific verses of the Word that you have been a doer.
Have you really consciously worked out the Word in your life or have you merely stored the knowledge of the Word in your mind?
If you have believed in the Word, you will want to experience the Word coming to pass in your life, doing as the Word says.
When you have done that, the result is that your faith arises and grows.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
Hebrews 11:1 KJV
Your faith does not grow if you have merely stored all the knowledge from reading and hearing the Word and feeling good and satisfied but did not act on it.
Eg.
They shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
Mark 16:18 KJV
To illustrate, in this example, if you have never laid your hands on any sick person based on faith (a hope for recovery though evidence of recovery not yet seen) in Mark 16:18 of the Word, how will you ever understand what Jesus is really teaching us in Mark 16:18?
How are you able to proclaim that you believe in this part of His Word when you do not want to obey His command and never even believe you can also experience it according to what He has instructed you?
