A word of Wisdom: Pledge Sunday

A word of Wisdom:

Pledge Sunday

Mark 7:14 KJV

Hearken unto me every one of you, and understand:

There are many churches that have this worldly practice or tradition of urging its members to pledge an amount of tithes and offerings to God, even making the congregation to write down their pledges in a card to be kept by the church administratord.

Matthew 5:33-37 KJV

Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time,

Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths:

[34] But I say unto you,

Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God's throne:

[35] Nor by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.

[36] Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.

[37] But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.

James 5:12 KJV

But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.

A "Pledge" is no different in meaning and in spirit from an "oath"  or a "swear", regardless of how you  rationalise it.

Alas! How is it that no one has voiced out that this is against the Word of God?

Do you not know that you are bringing the congregation to sin and to fall into condemnation?

Do you not know what is written in the Word of God?

Mark 7:13 KJV

Making the word of God of none effect through your tradition, which ye have delivered: and many such like things do ye.

Mark 7:15-16 KJV

There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.

[16] If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.
