A word of Knowledge: When do you have the Holy Spirit?

A word of Knowledge:

When do you have the Holy Spirit?

Ezekiel 36:26-27 KJV

A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you:

and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.

[27] And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

Many of us have blindly followed the widely accepted theology,

without questioning its validity at all whether this notion is aligned with Scripture that:

"We have the Holy Spirit upon conversion or being born again."

As you might have guessed, the answer is negative.

Let's start by asking the question:

"When did Jesus receive the Holy Spirit?"

A) Born Again of the Spirit

Luke 1:34-35 KJV

Then said Mary unto the angel,

How shall this be, seeing I know not a man?

[35] And the angel answered and said unto her,

The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

Matthew 1:20 KJV

But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying,

Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife:

for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

We see here that the Holy Ghost came upon Mary (not Jesus) and that Jesus is conceived or borned of the Holy Ghost.

This means Jesus' spirit is "born of the Spirit".

John 3:5 KJV

Jesus answered,

Verily, verily, I say unto thee,

Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

We see here that Jesus was indeed born of the water (Mary's womb) and "born of the Spirit" (see Matthew 1:20 above}.

Now, the question is,

"Did Jesus receive the Holy Spirit at this point of conception?"

There is no mention of it but only that Mary receive the Holy Spirit before her conception.

But that is Mary, not Jesus.

So, the answer is no, baby Jesus does not have the Holy Spirit at the point of conception yet.

John 3:3 KJV

Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee,

Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

Jesus came born with a new incorruptible spirit conceived in Mary of the Holy Spirit.

But what about us, the fallen man?

For us sinners, we are "born of water" with the sinful adamic fallen spirit and yet to be "born again of the Spirit".

Now, when we believed in Jesus and are "born again of the Spirit";

we are given a new heart and a new spirit (Ezekiel 36:26 above) Therefore, just as bsby Jesus did not yet have the Holy Spirit, so we too did not have the Holy Spirit yet at this point upon our being born again as a baby new creation man.

B) Baptism with water

Let us now fast forward Jesus' life to His baptism with water by John Baptist.

Note that from bsby Jesus to this point of His life, Jesus did not perform any miracles or signs and wonders. His ministry of preaching the gospel of the Kingdom of God and healing the sick has not begun.

The question here is,

"Did Jesus receive the Holy Spirit at the point of water baptism?"

Matthew 3:16 KJV

And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:

The answer is again clearly, "No!".

We see here that it was after the water baptism, when Jesus came out of the water that the Holy descended upon Him.

Yes, it is at this point that He has received the Holy Spirit and later went out to preach the Kingdom of God and heal the sick, performing miracles after that.

The water baptism is not the fulfillment of the promise of the Father "And I will put My Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes (Ezekiel 36:27)".

It is not the gift of the Holy Spirit.

If it includes the gift of the Holy Spirit, Paul would not need to have asked the Corinthians who have already received John Baptist's water baptism of repentance,

Acts 19:2 KJV

Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed?

So, if water baptism is not the fulfillment of the promise of the Father to "put My Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes" how could born again believers with a new spirit receive the gift of the Spirit promised by the Father?

C) Baptism with the Holy Spirit

Acts 1:4-5,8 KJV

And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.

[5] For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.

[8] But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Just before Jesus' ascension, He gave the command for the disciples to wait to receive the promise of the Father, the Baptism with the Holy Spirit.

Mark 1:8 KJV

I [John baptist] indeed have baptized you with water: but he [Jesus] shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.

Yes, the fulfillment of the promise came when we will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit to dwell in us as His temple.

Jesus is the one who will baptise us with the Holy Spirit Himself and not by the hands of John Baptist nor any other man.

Acts 2:1-4 KJV

And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.

[2] And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.

[3] And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.

[4] And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

The wait commanded by Jesus for the gift of the Holy Spirit was fulfilled on the day of Pentecost.

It is only in this actual spiritual experience that the disciples received the Holy Spirit.

The evidence of having experienced Jesus' baptism is not getting your whole body wet (water baptism) nor is it a change of your nature and character into a new spirit (born again), but is,

as it is clearly written in v4 "began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance".

If it is written in the Bible, then " to speak with other tongues"  following the baptism with the Holy Spirit is biblical, and we have no right to question God's Word at all.

Acts 2:32-33 KJV

This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses.

[33] Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.

Therefore, we see that the baptism with the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking with other tongues as the proof that a born again believer has received the Holy Spirit is intentionally shed forth by Jesus Christ.

Jesus is the baptiser with the Holy Spirit.

It is only then, at this point of your spiritual journey, that you can claim that you have the Holy Spirit dwelling in you and speaking to you and teaching you from within.

Without having baptised by Jesus Himself, you do not yet have the Holy Spirit. And without the Holy Spirit, you cannot even begin to understand the Word of God by the Spirit,

Nor are you able to comprehend as intended by the Spirit, any of the Epistles to the churches whom are all Spirit-filled or baptised with the Holy Spirit followers of Jesus Christ.

Nor will you be gifted with any of the miraculous powers of the gifts of the Holy Spirit,

Nor are you able to bear the fruit of the Spirit,

Nor are you able to walk in the Spirit.

Acts 19:2 KJV

Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed?

What is your answer now?
