A word of Wisdom: The Qualifications of Ministers
The Qualifications of Ministers
2 Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said,
It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.
3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.
4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.
Acts 6:2-4 KJV
We know the twelve disciples are Spirit-filled true disciples who are taught by Jesus Himself and the Holy Spirit who minister the Word to the Church.
Now, look, what did the twelve considered as the required criteria for the selection of men that are even fit to serve the tables, in which they considered to be menial work?
Yes, it is not just men of honest report but more importantly, they must be full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom.
Therein is the message:
If you are not Spirit-filled, you are not qualified to minister to the Church, in any ways.
No amount of education by men nor high titles of academic achievements can make you fit for ministering to God's people regardless of how menial the work or how respectable the office be.
How do we discern men of honest report?
By their character; meek and lowly in heart), and
By the fruits of their labour for the Kingdom of God (not their worldly achievements).
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
Matthew 11:29 KJV
3 And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling.
1 Corinthians 2:3 KJV
How do we discern one who is full of the Spirit and wisdom?
By the evidence of having received the baptism with the Holy Spirit which is speaking in tongues.
By their obedience to the Word of God and the Holy Spirit to observe all that Jesus Christ has commanded us.
By the signs and wonders that confirmed their preaching.
4 And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power:
1 Corinthians 2:4 KJV
Hence, this is the reason the Church is in such a low state of consciousness and likeness of Christ in holiness and in spiritual power:
We have been appointing ministers who have learnt to preach with enticing words of man's wisdom,
that are approved by men rather than anointed by God in the fulless of the Holy Spirit eith the gifts of ministry callings,
and yet we foolishly expected them to produce a honest report in their appointment and even mistakenly think they are wise and are anointed of God.
We have got the purpose and order of the appointment of men in total reversal.
Instead of choosing godly proven, miracles-performing, Spirit-filled, tongues speaking men of faith, we choose men that are yet to be tried by the furnaces and then hope that they will prove themselves in taking up the office!
Oh, God have mercy on the Church!
Oh, God restore the Church!
Oh, God revive the dry bones!
