A word of Knowledge: Stop depicting the Holy Spirit as a dove

Stop depicting the Holy Spirit as a dove

Luke 3:22 KJV

And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.

Many people, if not everyone, have misunderstood this verse.

They pictured the Holy Spirit coming in the shape of a dove coming down upon Jesus.

No, this is not what God is telling us at all.

What purpose does it serve to tell us the Holy Spirit looks like a dove where He obviously does not look like that?

God is not the author of foolishness and  confusion.

We are made in God's image, therefore, God the Holy Spirit's bodily shape is one that resembles that of a man, just as God the Son and God the Father.

Now, let us read the verse again slowly:

"And the Holy Ghost descended in a BODILY SHAPE like a dove upon him"

...in what bodily shape?

It is of course in the shape of a man!

And the Holy Ghost DESCENDED in a bodily shape LIKE A DOVE upon him

... like a dove means in the manner or descending movements of a dove

The purpose of this verse is to describe to us how the Holy Spirit comes upon us, which is gently and slowly, descending vertically from the top of our head.

The Holy Spirit comes upon us like a dove and not like other kinds of birds. For exsmple, an eagle descends with a forceful impact rather rapidly.

That is the manner of how we will all physically receive the gift of the Holy Spirit when Jesus baptises us, regardless of how much we thirst for Him or how wretched the state we are in, be it in the day of Pentecost or in present times.

It is a distinctive and separate spiritual event after Salvation.

God does not force His will upon any of you who choose in your own free will to REJECT His baptism with the Holy Ghost.

He does not forcefully nor violently seek to possess you for that is how the devils seek to take possession of you.

Brethrens, let us stop demeaning and even to an extent desecrating God the Holy Spirit in picturing Him as a dove and give the reverence and respect due to Him.

He is not a dove, not the creature.

He is a consuming fire.

He is a Person and Divinity.

He is the Creator.

He is our Lord and Master.

He is the Love, Power and Might.

He is the Godhead.

He is every bit God.

He is God.

Acts 19:2 KJV

Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed?

How doves land compared to other birds

There are subtle differences in how doves land compared to other birds, primarily due to their unique wing structure and flight style. Here's a breakdown:

Wing Anatomy:

Doves: Doves have shorter, rounded wings compared to many other birds like hawks or swallows. This gives them less lift but more maneuverability at slower speeds.

Flight Style:

Doves: Doves typically have a slower, fluttering flight style with shallow wingbeats. They often glide for short distances before landing.

Landing Techniques:

Doves: Due to their wing structure and flight style, doves employ specific landing techniques:

Vertical Descent: Doves can descend vertically with rapid wing flapping, acting like a parachute, especially when landing on narrow ledges or branches.

Gliding and Hopping: For open landings, doves often glide in with outstretched wings, using a final hop to cushion their touchdown.

Comparison with Other Birds:

Birds of Prey: Birds like hawks and falcons have broad, pointed wings for high-speed dives and powerful flapping. They often land with a forceful impact, using their talons to capture prey.

Songbirds: Smaller songbirds have rapid, flitting flight patterns and land on branches with agile maneuvers. They use their feet and claws to grip and perch.

Overall, dove landings are characterized by slower speeds, vertical descents, glides, and hops, reflecting their specialized wing structure and flight style.
