God's holiness is His highest glory...

God's holiness is His highest glory.

In His holiness, His righteousness and His love are united.

His holiness is the flaming fire of His zeal against all that is sin.

This is how He keeps Himself free from sin, and in love makes others also free from it.

- Andrew Murray, The New Life

  1. My heart is lifted up to see you post this for us on Facebook. I am grieved in my spirit when I hear many of our "leaders" today telling people that it is not possible to be "free from sin", as Andrew Murray phrases here in this posting! I believe he is absolutely correct, and those who deny this are discouraging people from the loathing of sin and from even attempting to live free from sin by telling them this! I hear "Christian" people today constantly referring to themselves as "sinners" that are merely forgiven, but few ever refer to themselves as also "cleansed from all unrighteousness", as John includes in the passage so often quoted (I John 1:9) I can't see anything else but "cleansed" in that passage, and I don't understand how they can define it to mean something else! Are we or are we not made clean? Or what else could God mean when, in the Word, we are told that we must "...be holy even as our Father in heaven is holy". The preaching of holiness has gone almost completely out of style in our day, it seems! What are we supposed to do with II Corinthians 7:1? "Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God."? I believe our people must be encourage3d through preaching and teaching that this verse is still applicable today, and we must pursue to knows this cleansing and the admonition to maintain the clean and holy heart and life! How do you see this, my brother?

    1. Brother (Gxxx??), I agree fully! The preaching and teaching of most preachers today seldom go deeper than salvation. At most, the power of the Holy Spirit that operates through our life is somewhat being taught or superficially mentioned but the work of the Holy Spirit in us to bring about the maturity, the perfection of the saints is unheard of in these times.
The people knew nothing of the deeper life in Christ. And yes, there is hardly any teachings nor emphasis in holiness anymore, knowing not that holiness, being cleansed from all sin and unrighteous, being set apart from the world is the Way we should live the Life of Truth, that is pleasing to God.
