A word of Wisdom: Martha or Mary?
Martha or Mary?
Luke 10:38-42 KJV
Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house.
[39] And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word.
[40] But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
[41] And Jesus answered and said unto her,
Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:
[42] But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
The church today is likened onto Martha.
Ever busy for the programmes, activities and duties of the church building and community, by their own ways and traditions.
rather than the preaching of the gospel of the Kingdom of God and ministering to the poor by the Holy Spirit,
and performing the priestly duties of the Kingdom of God according to their anointing.
The early church is likened onto Mary.
Ever choosing the good part -
Attend to His Word and,
Incline thine ear to the Holy Spirit;
The one thing that is needful.
Proverbs 4:20-21 KJV
My son, attend to my words;
incline thine ear unto my sayings.
[21] Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.
Luke 10:27 KJV
Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind;
and thy neighbour as thyself.
When are you going to be a Mary?
