A word of Wisdom: Charity (Agapē, Love)

 A word of Wisdom:

Charity (Agapē, Love)

John 13:34-35 KJV

A new commandment I give unto you,

That ye love one another;

as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

[35] By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples,

if ye have love one to another.

Repent today and wash ourselves clean.

Charity

- A selfless, sacrificial, and unconditional love that acts for the highest good of others

- God's kind of love

In the busyness of life in this self-centric, covetous, fallen world,

we have forgotten to follow Jesus' commandment to us.

1 Corinthians 8:1-3 KJV

Knowledge puffeth up, but charity edifieth.

[2] And if any man think that he knoweth any thing, he knoweth nothing yet as he ought to know.

[3] But if any man love God, the same is known of him.

1 Corinthians 13:1-13 KJV

Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity,

I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

[2] And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge;

and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains,

and have not charity,

I am nothing.

[3] And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned,

and have not charity,

it profiteth me nothing.

[4] Charity suffereth long, and is kind;

charity envieth not;

charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

[5] Doth not behave itself unseemly,

seeketh not her own,

is not easily provoked,

thinketh no evil;

[6] Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

[7] Beareth all things,

believeth all things, hopeth all things,

endureth all things.

[8] Charity never faileth:

but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail;

whether there be tongues, they shall cease;

whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

[9] For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

[10] But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

[11] When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child:

but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

[12] For now we see through a glass, darkly;

but then face to face:

now I know in part;

but then shall I know even as also I am known.

[13] And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three;

but the greatest of these is charity.

1 Corinthians 16:13-14 KJV

Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.

[14] Let all your things be done with charity.

Colossians 3:12-14 KJV

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;

[13] Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.

[14] And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.

1 Timothy 1:5-6 KJV

Now the end of the commandment is charity out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:

[6] From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling;

1 Peter 4:7-8 KJV

But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.

[8] And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves:

for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
