A word of Knowledge: What is Life?
A word of Knowledge:
What is Life?
The word "life" has many interpretations in this modern culture.
This has put a veil upon the Scripture when this word is mentioned.
Matthew 16:25 CSBS
因为凡想要保全自己生命的,将失去生命;凡为我的缘故失去自己生命的,将寻得生命。
Matthew 16:25 KJV
For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.
John 15:13 CSBS
一个人为他的朋友舍弃自己的生命,人的爱没有比这更大的了。
John 15:13 KJV
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
~~~
The Chinese word for "life" - "生命" preserves its primitive meaning, "生" and "命".
If you want to be healthy, you need "生" which is life.
If you want to live and not die, you need "命" , which is life.
John 4:14 CSBS
但如果有人喝了我给他的水,就绝不干渴,直到永远。不但如此,我给他的水将要在他里面成为泉源,一直涌流到永恒的生命。”
John 4:14 KJV
But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
Matthew 10:7-8 KJV
And as ye go, preach, saying,
The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
[8] Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils:
freely ye have received, freely give.
What is it that we have received freely and commanded to give freely?
It is the life that is in you, the water of everlasting life that we have received from Jesus.
The life that we have been commanded to give can be seen working in action:
Mark 5:27-30 KJV
When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.
[28] For she said,
If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
[29] And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.
[30] And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that VIRTUE had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said,
Who touched my clothes?
Luke 8:46-47 KJV
And Jesus said,
Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that VIRTUE is gone out of me.
[47] And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately.
Luke 6:17-19 KJV
And he came down with them, and stood in the plain, and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judaea and Jerusalem, and from the sea coast of Tyre and Sidon, which came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases;
[18] And they that were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed.
[19] And the whole multitude sought to touch him:
for there went VIRTUE out of him, and healed them all.
We can see that this virtue or water of life that is in us can be perceived (felt or sensed) flowing like water out of our body.
In fact, that is how it works when Jesus commanded us to lay our hands on the sick and they shall recover.
Mark 16:17-18 KJV
And these signs shall follow them that believe;
In my name ... they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
"Life" - Strong's Definition
How do we receive and increase this water of life in us?
John 4:10 KJVS
Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
John 7:38-39 KJV
He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said,
out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
[39] (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive:
for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified).
1 Corinthians 14:4 KJV
He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself;
