How to Relate to Governing Authority

How to Relate to Governing Authority

Romans 13:1-2 KJV

Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers.

For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.

[2] Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.

The governing authorities or powers of the world are given their authority by God even though the rulers may think it is by their own strength.

The purpose of which is to set in motion the prophecies, a part of the grand plan of God to establish the Kingdom of God here on earth,

so that Christ may come and reign as the King of kings on earth soon.

The unbelievers of the world need to see and taste what the Kingdom of God on earth will be like even if it is only but a shadow of it, through the earthly powers ordained by God.

Now what is really the Kingdom of God?

The Kingdom of God is righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost (Romans 14:17).

Only then will they be able to appreciate the fullness of the Kingdom of God when it is being preached to them that they might be saved.

John 18:36 KJV

Jesus answered,

My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.

John 17:16 KJV

They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.

For the followers of Christ, it is of a different matter.

Our Kingdom is not the present evil world even though we are in this world.

We know it is the will of God to ordain the powers of the world.

We know that "whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation"

It is with this understandimg of the will of God that we are able to willingly subject ourselves to the higher powers established by God for His incomprehensible purposes.

Isaiah 55:8-9 KJV

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.

[9] For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.

As Spirit-filled believers we are not to walk after our flesh and come in pride against the governing authority regardless of how bad the situation is, but we are to walk in the Spirit that the righteousness might be fulfilled in us.

Romans 8:4-6 KJV

That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

[5] For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.

[6] For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

Yes, we are to hear and speak whatsoever the Holy Spirit told us at all times and only do what yhe Spirit showed us to do,

and we know that the Holy Spirit will not speak nor act against the will of God, because the Holy Spirit who speaks to us, is God Himself.

Philippians 1:20-21 KJV

According to my earnest expectation and my hope,

that in nothing I shall be ashamed,

but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body,

whether it be by life, or by death.

[21] For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

That is the attitude we have towards our earthly life in this world and towards any governing authority.

If I am something then God is not everything

but when I become nothing,

God can become all.
