A word of Knowledge: What is Baptism according to Jesus?

A word of Knowledge:

What is Baptism according to Jesus?

Mark 10:37-40 KJV

They said unto him,

Grant unto us that we may sit, one on Thy right hand, and the other on Thy left hand, in Thy glory.

[38] But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask:

can ye drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?

[39] And they said unto him,

We can.

And Jesus said unto them,

Ye shall indeed drink of the cup that I drink of; and with the baptism that I am baptized withal shall ye be baptized:

[40] But to sit on my right hand and on my left hand is not mine to give; but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared.

We see clearly that baptism does not simply meant an outward or external or physical ceremony or ritual like the immersion in water to Jesus, contrary to the church traditions we are accustomed to.

It is much more than that.

To Jesus, it does not simply refer to the physical act of immersion in water nor even simply the act of laying on of hands or prayer to receive the promised gift of the Holy Ghost nor the distinct experience of the baptism with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in an unknown tongue.

To Him, it means an internal, spiritual experience or process that arises or is caused by a physical event.

Matthew 3:13-15 KJV

Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him.

[14] But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me?

[15] And Jesus answering said unto him,

Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness.

Then he suffered him.

John 4:2 KJV

(Though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples,)

Why do you think Jesus had to be water baptised by John Baptist but Himself did not perform any water baptism for His disciples?

The reason is,

So that we will not be mistaken and misunderstand the purpose and meaning of baptism,

That it is not merely the physical act of immersion of water and does not solely refers to John Baptist's water repentance from sins.

What do you think "baptism" in the following verse, which comes several chapters after the above discussion of Jesus on the topic of baptism with the disciples,  refers to?

Mark 16:16 KJV

He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Do you still think the word "baptized" here simply means the physical act of the baptism with water?

As well as this verse,

Matthew 28:18-20 KJV

And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying,

All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

[19] Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

[20] Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

Note that we are to teach all nations to observe all things whatsoever He has commanded us,

WHICH IS,

baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost

The baptism in the Name of the Father refers to John Baptist's baptism of repentance, the remission of sins (not just the act of water immersion).

The baptism in the Name of the Son refers to the crucifying or dying of our flesh (self) with Christ,

and be raised up as a New Man, to actually live out a new life in Jesus thereafter,

just as Christ was raised from the dead and glorified.

The baptism in the Name of the Holy Ghost is the receiving of the Father's promise of the gift of the Holy Ghost and power with the evidence of the speaking in an unknown tomgue,

and to actually walk in the power and gifts of the Spirit, no longer walking in the flesh.

Hence, brethrens, that is the meaning of baptism according to Jesus,

which will enable and empower us to accomplish what He has commanded us in the Way, the Truth and the Life.

Matthew 16:24-27 KJV

Then said Jesus unto his disciples,

If any man will come after me,

let him deny himself,

and take up his cross,

and follow me.

[25] For whosoever will save his life shall lose it:

and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

[26] For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

[27] For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with His angels; and then He shall reward every man according to His works.
