Fellowship With God

Fellowship With God  By John G. Lake, Spiritual Hunger and Other Sermons (Excerpts) The ministry of the Christian is a ministry of the Spirit.  If the Christian cannot minister the Spirit of God in the true sense, he is not a Christian.  If he has not the Spirit to minister in the real sense, he has nothing to minister.  Other men have intellectuality, but the Christian is supposed to be the possessor of the Spirit.  He possesses something that no other man in the whole world possesses;  that is, the Spirit of the living God.

A word of Wisdom: The Qualifications of Ministers

Image
A word of Wisdom: The Qualifications of Ministers 2 Then the twelve called the multitude of the disciples unto them, and said,  It is not reason that we should leave the word of God, and serve tables.  3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.  4 But we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word. Acts 6:2‭-‬4 KJV We know the twelve disciples are Spirit-filled true disciples who are taught by Jesus Himself and the Holy Spirit who minister the Word to the Church. Now, look, what did the twelve considered as the required criteria for the selection of men that are even fit to serve the tables, in which they considered to be menial work? Yes, it is not just men of honest report but more importantly, they must be full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom. Therein is the message: If you are not Spirit-filled, you are not qualified to minister to the Church, in any

Letter To Brother Charles H. Parham, March 24, 1927 By John G. Lake

Letter To Brother Charles H. Parham, March 24, 1927 By John G. Lake (Excerpts) The revelation of Jesus Christ as Savior and Healer through the simple teaching of the cross, surpassed in Paul's estimation every other knowledge and led him to declare: I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God. I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ.  It is the power of God unto salvation, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Who has authority to pray for the sick?  Is this holy ministry only given to the few?  Is it a ministry to all Christians or to the clergy only? Jesus said: If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. Ask, it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. These signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they (the believers) cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues...they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall

The Baptism Of The Holy Ghost By John G. Lake

The Baptism Of The Holy Ghost By John G. Lake Sermon Chicago Pentecostal Convention July 16, 1920 There are as many degrees in God in the baptism of the Holy Ghost as there are preachers who preach it.  Some people are born way down, weeping at the feet of the cross. They are still on the earth-plane with Christ. They are still weeping over their sins, still trying to overcome sin and be pure of heart. But there are other people who are born way up in the blessed dominion of God, like our Mother Etter.  They have resurrection power.  All power is given, and it is in our soul. And, beloved, one day there are going to be Christians baptized in the Holy Ghost who are way up in the throne room of God, way up in the consciousness that is breathed out of His holy heart. Somebody is going to be born a son of God and be baptized in the Holy Ghost where Jesus is today, in the throne-consciousness of Christ; where he can say like Jesus said, where he can feel like Jesus feels:  "I am he tha

Resistance to the Holy Spirit

Resistance to the Holy Spirit By Smith Wigglesworth, Only Believe As you go on in this life of the Spirit, you will find that the Devil will begin to get restless and there will be a “stir in the synagogue,” so to speak.  It was so with Stephen.  Any number of people may be found in the church who are very proper in a worldly sense—always properly dressed, the elite of the land, welcoming into the church everything but the power of God.  Let us read what God says about them: Then there arose some from what is called the Synagogue of the Freedmen (Cyrenians, Alexandrians, and those from Cilicia and Asia), disputing with Stephen. And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke. (Acts 6:9–10) The Freedmen could not stand the truth of God. With these opponents, Stephen found himself in the same predicament as the blind man whom Jesus had healed. (See John 9:1–34.)  As soon as the blind man’s eyes were opened, the religious leaders shut him out of the synagogue.

A word of Wisdom: Three Types of Knowledge of the Word of God

A word of Wisdom: Three Types of Knowledge of the Word of God 1) Knowledge of the Flesh: This comes from the faculties of our soul; inborned and educated (by man) intellectual reasoning, a sense-based understanding of the natural man, regardless of whether one is born again. 2) Knowledge of the Renewed Mind and our spirit: This comes from the faculties of our Regenerated spirit and interpreted/translated through our renewed mind (soul) according to our understanding of the mind of Christ. 3) Knowledge of the Holy Spirit: This does not come from our own faculties but is impressed upon supernaturally by the Holy Spirit into our Regenerated spirit, our spirit receives the knowledge and is being interpreted/translated by our Renewed mind (soul). These three types of knowledge and understandings on the Word can be transmitted out to others in the form of messages, sermons, and advices etc. It will benefit us greatly if we are able to discern from which type of knowledge a message originated

A word of Knowledge: What is the Kingdom of God?

A word of Knowledge: What is the Kingdom of God?  Romans 14:17 KJV For the Kingdom of God is         not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. The Bible gives us the definition of what the Kingdom of God really is. It is simply this: The Kingdom of God is the righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Ghost!. [Strong's Definition:  Righteousness: equity (of character or act); specifically (Christian) justification.   Peace:- by implication prosperity:  - one peace quietness rest + set at one again.  Joy:- cheerfulness that is calm delight.] Yes, the Kingdom of God is in the Holy Ghost!  Where is it located?  Luke 17:21 KJV The Kingdom of God is within you. Having received the gift of the Holy Spirit as promised by the Father through the baptism with the Holy Spirit by Jesus Christ, the Spirit of God dwells within us, our body being His temple. The Kingdom of God is in the Holy Spirit and indeed is within us. Now, with this revelatory key that the

The Baptism with the Holy Spirit by R.A. Torrey

The Baptism with the Holy Spirit (Adapted from "The Holy Spirit: Who He is and What He does", by R.A. Torrey) Obtain the Baptism with the Holy Spirit in Seven definite Steps. You could be baptised with the Holy Spirit in other ways or conditions but this is a definite way. You may receive the Baptism with the Holy Spirit before you even reach the last Step! Know this, when you do these Steps, you shall receive the Baptism with the Holy Spirit immediately. You do not have to tarry and wait for it. Any tarries will be caused by your own sins or doubts and not with God. Lets begin. Step 1: Receive Jesus Christ. Rest entirely upon the finished work of Jesus Christ on the Cross of Calvary, upon His atoning death for us, as the sole ground of our acceptance before God. Acts 2:38 NKJV “Repent, and let every one of you be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. It is done, absolutely not on anything we do, but

It has been hard for us to grasp...

It has been hard for us to grasp the principles of this life of faith. In the beginning, man's spirit was the dominant force in the world; when he sinned, his mind became dominant. Sin dethroned the spirit and crowned the intellect.  But grace is restoring the spirit to its place of dominion, and when man comes to realize this, he will live in the realm of the supernatural without effort. No longer will faith be a struggle but normal living in the realm of God.  The spirit realm places men where communion with God is a normal experience.  - Rev John G. Lake

A word of Knowledge: The Hindrance in Receiving the Gift of the Holy Spirit

A word of Knowledge: The Hindrance in Receiving the Gift of the Holy Spirit  Luke 11:13 KJV If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: HOW MUCH MORE shall your heavenly FATHER give the Holy Spirit to them that ASK HIM? There are many believers who have prayed and asked the Father in the Name of Jesus Christ for the Baptism with the Holy Spirit for many years but were not able to receive it. The following is the hindrance and the way to overcome it: The Hindrance in Receiving the Gift of the Holy Spirit Acts 2:4 KJV And THEY were all filled with the Holy Ghost,  and BEGAN to speak with other tongues,  as the Spirit gave them utterance. Many of us who could not receive the baptism with the Holy Spirit have misunderstood this verse. Question: Who is it that "began to speak with other tongues"? Answer: It is NOT the Holy Spirit who will take full control of you to speak for you in other tongues as many misunderstood it, BUT, it is "THEY" tha

Mere Religion

Mere Religion By Kathryn Kuhlman, Victory in Jesus God's religion never yet made a man miserable. Think that one through.  Maybe all that you've had through the years is just religion.  There are thousands of people that all on earth they ever had is religion, and just enough religion to make them miserable.  They are having a terrible time, just an awful time being religious.  Every Sunday morning our churches are filled with religious people, and in many instances even the one who stands behind the pulpit has nothing more or less than his religion.  The Bible has never become alive to him. Jesus Christ has never really become a living personality to him. God the Father is still one that is very mystical, far off, he knows not where.  You can perceive it in his prayers.  He isn't quite sure to whom he is praying, whether or not he is really praying to a person, or if anyone at all is hearing his prayers.  That is the reason why the Holy Spirit and the power of the Holy Spi

A word of Knowledge: How Divine Healing Works

A word of Knowledge: How Divine Healing Works Matthew 4:23 KJV And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. How is it that Jesus was and is able to heal ALL the sick and the diseased?  How did that work specifically? The Scripture did tell us exactly the mechanism and reason by which divine healing is made a possibility and a reality to the world.  Isaiah 53:4-5 KJV Surely He hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.  [5] But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed. Matthew 8:17 KJV That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet,  saying,  Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.  [Isaiah 53:4] Jesus did not heal by blasting beams of powe

Greater Works: Experiencing God's Power: Energized by the Spirit

Greater Works: Experiencing God's Power By Smith Wigglesworth Energized by the Spirit There is a necessity for every one of us to be filled with God.  It is not sufficient to have just a touch or to be filled with just a desire.  Only one thing will meet the needs of the people, and that is for you to be immersed in the life of God.  This means that God takes you and fills you with His Spirit until you live right in God.  He does this so that “whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, [it may be] all to the glory of God” (1 Cor. 10:31).  In that place you will find that all your strength and all your mind and all your soul are filled with a zeal, not only for worship, but also for proclamation.  This proclamation is accompanied by all the power of God, which must move satanic power and disturb the world. The reason the world is not seeing Jesus is that Christian people are not filled with Jesus.  They are satisfied with attending meetings weekly, reading the Bible occasionally,

Tongues and the Baptism By Smith Wigglesworth on the Holy Spirit

Tongues and the Baptism By Smith Wigglesworth on the Holy Spirit Let me tell you about my own experience of being baptized with the Holy Spirit.  You know, beloved, that it had to be something that was based on solid facts in order to move me.  I was as certain as possible that I had received the Holy Spirit, and I was absolutely rigid in this conviction.  Many years ago, a man came to me and said,  “Wigglesworth, do you know what is happening in Sunderland, England? People are being baptized in the Holy Spirit exactly the same way that the disciples were on the Day of Pentecost.”  I said, “I would like to go.” Immediately, I took a train and went to Sunderland and met with the people who had assembled for the purpose of receiving the Holy Spirit.  I was continuously in those meetings causing disturbances, until the people wished I had never come.  They said that I was disrupting the conditions for people to receive the baptism.  But I was hungry and thirsty for God, and had gone to Su
